Seed Deficit

Overview
The Seed Deficit module in TytonIQ provides a clear overview of seed shortfalls across all species included in seed applications. It compares ecological requirements against available seed batches, highlighting where deficits exist so procurement, collection, or substitution strategies can be planned.

Key Features
-
Deficit Tracking
- Displays all species included in created seed applications and calculates the total deficit (grams).
- The deficit value updates dynamically as seed batches are allocated or new batches are added.
-
Seeds per Gram
- Calculated as the average seeds per gram of existing batches for that species.
- If no batches are available, a placeholder value must be manually set to allow deficit calculations.
-
Placeholder Values
- Species without batches show a +Set option under Seeds per Gram.
- Clicking +Set allows you to enter an estimated seeds-per-gram value.
- This ensures approximate deficit calculations can still be performed.
-
Batch Information
- Where a blue Info icon is shown, hovering over it will display the batch details used to calculate the Seeds per Gram value.
-
Dynamic Updates
- When new batches are allocated, the deficit value for the corresponding species decreases.
- This allows users to track progress as inventory is matched against application requirements.
- After Allocation
Once new batches are allocated, the total deficit decreases, reflecting the updated available stock. This ensures that users always have an accurate view of shortfalls requiring attention.
Usage Scenarios
-
Procurement Planning
Identify species requiring additional procurement or collection efforts before applications can be fulfilled. -
Inventory Management
Cross-check deficits against seed inventory to ensure critical rehabilitation species are always available. -
Application Readiness
Monitor whether planned seed applications can proceed or whether deficits need to be addressed. -
Reporting
Export deficit data for inclusion in procurement schedules, rehabilitation planning documents, or compliance reporting.
Summary
The Seed Deficit module provides real-time visibility of seed shortfalls across rehabilitation projects. By integrating application requirements with inventory data, it ensures deficits are quickly identified, managed, and resolved, supporting effective planning and regulatory compliance.
